We were all sitting there on Friday at the draft broadcast stunned. Couldn't believe what had just happened. I said a few minutes earlier that with Manti Te'o dropping, wouldn't it be crazy if the Chargers took him? Then bam! They traded up in the 2nd round and did just that. I couldn't believe it. Never once did I consider the fact that he could get taken by the Chargers. The reason is, they had the 11th pick in the draft and they weren't gonna take him there. Most experts had him going late in the first round. When he fell to the 2nd, I then started to think about it a little, but still didn't think he would last until the Chargers pick. But they moved up to get him. Here is the deal...he fills a big need for them. They have no one on the team right now that can play inside with Donald Butler. He can. If you put asside all the baggage, he is a good football player. He isn't a slam dunk as the National championship game showed, but he will be good if you protect him. After the initial shock wore off, I forgot that we get to interview the guy. I had to quickly wrap my head around that. This is a pretty big celebrity. How were we going to handle the catfishing stuff? We did, but respectfully. This guy just had his dream come true. We didn't need to bombard him with a bunch of nonsense. The draft is about football. So we mostly asked him about that. It was surreal. I did think about using my female impression to trick him a little, but felt it was too soon. Another time Eddie. Overall, I thought the Chargers did a very good job with their draft. Their first 3 picks I had all going in the 1st round in my mock draft. So they got some very good value with their picks. They didn't come away with that left tackle everyone wanted, but overall, I liked their draft. After the Chargers took Manti, my boss Shauna, sent me this pic. She said it's his first picture with Manti as a Charger. She's so dumb. It's his girlfriend that was fake, not him!
