The countdown is on for my 40th birthday. Only a few days away. Now that I am getting older, I think it is mandatory that I watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Isn't it the law or something. I was watching it last night and I had two observations. #1 Vanna White's job is pointless. She used to actually turn the letters back in the day. But now all she does is stroll across the stage and touch the letter. It's a really strange job. The letter could probably just appear once they guess it correctly, but we still have to have Vanna. I get she is a staple to the show, but when she steps down, will there be another letter turner? Or will they be done with that? The other thought I has was about Jeopardy. My favorite part of the show is when they come back after the first commercial and they talk to the contestants. They will usually share a funny moment in the life or some sort of antidote that they find clever. It is always awkward. Always. These people are super smart but most of them are socially inept. So they think whatever thing they are telling about their cat or hilarious story about their life is gonna kill. But they are such dorks that is always falls flat. And makes us squirm at home. But I enjoy the awkwardness of it. I hope that never goes away.
I don't just watch Jeopardy. I also watched the Ultimate Fighter last night. This guy Uriah Hall is fun to watch. Dana White keep saying he is the nastiest, meanest fighter in the history of the show. His kick that KO'd the guy in the first fight was epic. One of the worst KOs I have ever seen. But this time he KOd a guy that was already beat. Bubba was walking around complaining about having to fight him and saying his back hurt, blah blah. I have talked to a ton of fighters and all of them say the majority of the fight game is mental. If you walk in and you are already mentally beaten, you are dead. And he was. One punch and he was out. Then after he woke up, he was laughing and almost acting relieved it was over. That sucks. There were guys in the house that would have killed for his spot. I doubt we will be seeing him in the UFC.
