First Pitch Fail Video

First Pitch Fail Video

I watched a couple of movies over the weekend and had two totally different reactions than I was expecting.  The first one was Oz The Great and Powerful.  Wife's choice.  But I was still interested in seeing it.  I noticed something right off the bat. James Franco was horribly miscast.  He did not fit the tone of the movie at all.  I don't know how the director or anyone else watching footage didn't scrap him immediately.  I think Franco is a pretty good actor, don't get me wrong.  But he didn't make sense at all as the wizard.  I started to think, who would have been good in that role.  Leonardo DiCaprio came to mind.  I also thought Edward Norton, who doesn't get enough credit for being a brilliant actor, would work.  I also thought if you want to go out of the box a little, even Ben Stiller would have been better.  But Franco was terrible in it.

The other movie I watched was one I thought I was going to hate.  I have a problem with Hollywood remaking movies that were perfectly good the first time.  Especially if they are not very old.  Karate Kid is one of those examples.  I love Karate Kid and to remake it with Jaden Smith?  Blasphemy!  So when I heard they were remaking Total Recall, all I could think was, Why?  It was done so well the first time.  Perfect mix of action and cheese.  Quiad, Quatto, Johnny Cab, the three boobed alien...you can't top that.  And Colin Farrell in the role that Arnold made famous?  No way.  Not sure I was ever gonna ever bother.  But it was on TV and I decided I would watch a few minutes just to see how bad they messed it up.  Well, I was wrong.  They decided to totally take another angle with it.  They got rid of the cheesy angles and went for a hardcore sci-fi, action movie. It's pretty good.  It's not perfect, but it wasn't terrible.  They gave a few nods to the original, but left out most of the goofy, eye bulging Mars stuff.  I was surprised I was entertained by it.

Have you seen the video of Carly Rae Jepsen's first pich fail?  The Call Me Maybe chick threw one of the worst first pitches in history.  Check it out...
